Some later family papers have the first name as Sam or Lemuel. He was married to Polly CLAGHORN on 22 Apr 1798 in Boston, Suffolk Co., MA.⁽¹⁹²⁾

59. Polly CLAGHORN ⁽¹⁹³⁾ was born in 1776 in New Bedford, Bristol Co., MA.⁽¹⁹²⁾⁽¹⁹⁴⁾⁽¹⁹³⁾ [Tim Cushman has birth in 1774 at Dartmouth, MA; WFT Vol. 9, #3749, 2-8-1997 has 1777 at Nantucket, MA; Cushman Family Group Sheets have birth in 1774 at Dartmouth.] She died on 14 Jun 1842 in Nantucket, MA.⁽¹⁹⁴⁾ [WFT Vol. 9, #3749, 2-8-1997 & Tim Cushman.] WFT Vol. 9, #3749, 2-8-1997, has name as "Mary Polly Claghorn." Children were:

i. George Claghorn VALENTINE⁽¹⁹²⁾ was born on 29 Sep 1798 in Plymouth, Plymouth Co., MA. He died on 11 Apr 1877 in Eden, NY. Married Mary Green 16 Dep 1821 in New Bedford, MA. They had a daughter Ann Eliza who married James Bryant; they had a son George who married Sophia Spires; they had a son William who married Ora Brown; they had a son Clifford who married Anita Adams; they had a daughter Judy (Goldbaum) who currently (1997) lives in Wilmington, DE, & has furnished genealogical data on the Valentine lineage. Judy is also a descendant of Mayflower passengers through Mary Allerton and the Howland/Tilley lineage.
