232. Samuel VALENTINE

was born on 28 Dec 1702 in Boston, Suffolk Co., MA. He died on 14 Mar
1781 in Freetown, Bristol Co., MA. After Abigail's death, married Rebecca Hall.
Samuel, the oldest of the Valentine children, was named after his grandfather
Samuel Lynde. His grandfather bequeathed to him "my brick house, brick
ware-house, with the land belonging to them, in Cornhill Street, in Boston....Also
my pasture and orchard in Boston, bounded on Cambridge Street.... Also two lots
of land lying in Freetown." It was this last legacy that led to Samuel's
being sent for from Freetown when his father John Valentine died several years
later. Samuel also "inherited Bencliffe Hall in England, but it was in Freetown
that he had his Representative to the General Court in 1728 and 1750, and a Selectman
and Assessor in 1751." (Bonnie Hubbard) He was married to Abigail DURFEE
on 25 Jun 1729 in Boston, Suffolk Co., MA. [Place of marriage from LDS IGI Records
