ELEVENTH GENERATION


1892. Robert LOVELL (946) was born about 1595 in England. He died about 25 Jun 1672 in Weymouth, MA. IMMIGRANT (1635) - They "had come to Plymouth Colony with a group of about 22 families under the leadership of the Rev. Joseph Hull (see Banks , Charles Edward, 'Planters of the Commonwealth,' Genealogical Pub. Co., Boston, 1961, p. 127; also Boyer, 'Ship Passenger Lists, National and New England,' p. 150). Most of them were from the Somersetshire parishes of Batcombe and Broadway, and they left Weymouth, Dorsetshire in March 1635, arriving at Plymouth Colony 5 May 1635. The name of their ship is not known. The General Court gave them permission to settle on the plantation at Wassaguscus and in July changed the name to Weymouth. The first Lovell is listed as 'Robert, husbandman from Weymouth.' His age is given as 40 and his wife Elizabeth's as 35, birth years thus being about 1595 and 1600. "...was made a freeman of the Massachusetts Bay Colony 2 Sep 1635. He died at Weymouth shortly before his will, made in 1651, was probated 25 June 1672. His wife Elizabeth survived him." (Claghorn Addenda)
